Evelin Uus (1993, Estonia) is a Berlin based dancer choreographer who expresses themselves through movement art. Uus explores subjects of fantasy world building, flora, subcultures and artificial environments. Their work is thematically driven by recurring keywords: intersectional queerfeminism, sex work, strength and vulnerability of bodies, and community care. Uus’ work is characterized by a care-centered and philosophical approach to sexual expression that expands from sex working bodies, music and visual art. They analyse sex work as a phenomenon, examining bodies and perception of sexual and sensual mannerism on aesthetic, expressive and political levels. They take inspiration for creating dance from nature and its movement patterns, as well as expressions found in artificial and subculture environments, like brothels, stripclubs and techno clubs.
They hold BA in philosophy from Tallinn University and in contemporary dance from Die Etage Berlin. Since 2019 they have been focusing on performing in queer venues with pole dancing, solo performance lectures and duettes. Their current interdisciplinary dance research project XXX has a narrative texture, introducing a series of works: XXX_atomic (2023, digital), gentle_XXX (2024-2025) and +372-055-XXX (2025-2026). Since 2024 their focus lies on their dance project gentle_XXX and creating a digital archive of their work. In June 2025 the premiere of gentle_XXX will take place in New Fears Gallery in Berlin.
